Experience world’s longest inflatable slide, Hong Kong’s largest water battle, the most stunning world-class diving show and the wildest foam party
(10 June 2010, Hong Kong) This year’s Ocean Park Summer Splash, running from 1 July to 31 August, promises to be the splashiest ever as guests will have a chance to experience the rush of hurtling down the world’s tallest and longest inflatable slide that measures 11 metres in height and 54 metres in length. There will also be an over 10,000 square-feet water gun battlefield waiting for guests who enjoy interactive water play. And together with a galore of water-themed entertainment, including water drum shows and the craziest diving performances from a hair-raising height of 80 feet, Ocean Park will be the wettest and coolest place for families to visit throughout the hot summer holidays.
Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Ocean Park, said, “Summer Splash has become one of the most anticipated annual summer events for people of all ages. This year, we are bringing in the most entertaining professional divers who will jump from well over twice the height of Olympic events to show everyone how to make a big splash. Our guests can then head over to the inflatable slides to make splashes of their own. Including the regular attractions, Ocean Park will present close to 50 attractions and shows during Summer Splash, plus almost 350 refreshing dining and retail offers to help guests cool off during the event period. Who needs air-conditioning in the summer when there is Ocean Park!”
To ensure guests of all ages have every opportunity to be drenched in soaking fun, Ocean Park has prepared the wettest line-up of attractions in Tai Shue Wan. Topping the list is the world’s longest Mega Aqua Slide, appearing in Hong Kong for the first time ever. Towering at 11 metres and stretching a length of 54 metres, this super-sized slide will send guests dashing and splashing along the wildest ride of the summer. Younger guests can enjoy Super Slide, a 7-metre high and 28-metre long structure that sports a massive bouncing platform; and a Junior Slide will be set up specifically for toddlers to get in on the slippery fun.
With adrenalin pumping from speeding down the slides, guests will be perfectly primed to join in Hong Kong’s largest water gun fights at Alien Water Battle to help save Ocean Park from invading sea monsters. On a 10,000 square feet battlefield populated with animatronic creatures, shooters and snipers not only have to avoid each other’s splash and spray, they also need to evade hidden surprises if they want to make it out dry. An adjacent child-safe zone with water fountains and other aquatic playtime activities will keep our younger guests chilled and thrilled as well.
Ocean Park also has poured its own torrential twists into the Water War arcade to satisfy those thirsting for more soaking action. Even with the best hand-eye coordination at their disposal, guests might still find it difficult to escape the maddening joy of being doused by depth-charges, one of the Park’s latest remedies against the summer heat.
No summer party would be complete without dance and music—and this year’s Summer Splash has plenty to offer, including the Foam Rave, a guest favourite featuring the good clean fun of UV-lit foam bubbles, now matched with pulsating techno beats. Children will also have their own area for boogying with bubbles. The musical groove gets even wilder at Wet’n Wild Rhythms as the audience will be literally splashed by the sound waves at the Water Drum Show.
Over at the Waterfront, guests will be wowed by the aquatic acrobatics showcased at the Summer Stunt Spectacular, a high-diving themed performance by a world-renowned international troupe, comprised of national competition medalists from North America and Europe. In addition to diving from an 80-feet high platform, they will also put on display a series of jaw-dropping spins and somersaults, ending with a mighty splash. To demonstrate the quenching power of water in the most dramatic fashion, one of the performances will involve diving while alit in flames! Trampoline and bungee acts further add to the tale being told through the most dynamic bodily movements.
Guests looking for more mesmerizing physical expressions through music and rhythms would not want to miss Splash Dance at the Summit. Tap dancers, Brazilian martial artists, hip hop and break dancers will all kick up a storm and put on an aquatic display of their dazzling moves in Hong Kong’s most eclectic outdoor dance extravaganza.
“Ocean Park has been fulfilling its role as Hong Kong’s people’s park since its opening by making each and every summer a supremely exciting season. With all the coolest games and fun we have in store for this year, I encourage everyone to plan ahead and book this summer’s hottest tickets now!” said Dr. Zeman.
