Ocean Park Christmas Sensation 2009 - The Christmas Event With A Difference!

2009-12-10

With Hong Kong’s One and Only Hollywood-calibre Figure-Skating Illusion Show and the World’s First-Ever “Slinky Man” Performance on Ice

(Hong Kong – 10 December 2009) Ocean Park Christmas Sensation 2009 kicked off today in full swing as Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Ocean Park, invited the media to preview the plethora of festive attractions. Dr. Zeman appeared as the first “Slinky Man” to perform on ice, at a segment of Spellbound on Ice – a stellar show starring world and national champions, as well as an Emmy award-winning performer and production cast.  Ms. Chrissie Chau Sau-na, a popular young celebrity in town, also brought Yuletide cheer to Ocean Park, and was the first guest to race down the slippery Turbo Snow Tubing slope. She then paid Father Christmas a visit at his fun-filled Santa’s Illusion Adventure. At sundown, everyone gathered at the Glittering Christmas Garden at Waterfront Ocean Express Plaza. Dr. Zeman and friends lit up the 12-metre Christmas tree, as the Shanghai Alumni Primary School Choir carolled.

Dr. Zeman said, "Ocean Park is all about happy and memorable moments and fun for all in the family. From 12 December 2009 to 3 January 2010, we’ve created a Christmas with a difference.  Ocean Park is bringing to you Hong Kong’s only top-notch figure-skating and illusion extravaganza featuring a cast of over 30 internationally-renowned artists in the fields of figure-skating, adagio skating, aerial acrobatics, special effect acts, illusion acts and ice-skating show productions. There are also over 50 Christmas shows and attractions, including the Magic Academy, Laser Christmas Wishing Wall and Illusion Art Workshop, as well as 100 festive gift and souvenir ideas and over 80 Yuletide culinary delights. On top of all this we also have our 45 perennial-favourite animal and high-velocity attractions. There is always something for everyone at Ocean Park!”

The sensational Christmas escapade begins at Tai Shue Wan Plaza with Spellbound on Ice. This astounding performance features a team of 30 professional ice-skaters, supported by international elites from music production and choreography to costume design. There will be up to five performances daily and the venue can accommodate up to 1,000 people per show. Next, guests can head next door to the Turbo Snow Tubing area. There are five 23-metre long lanes of single tubes for the amateur daredevils, whilst the real thrill-seekers can try to maintain control at the U-shaped snow slope, which drops from a peak of five metres!

Guests can make their Christmas wishes to their loved ones in the form of laser graffiti at the Laser Christmas Wishing Wall. This is only available at Ocean Park and the greetings can be kept for posterity on camera. Those who are looking to impress should seek out the award-winning masters of illusion at the Magic Academy nearby, and take home a trick or two.

The sensational Christmas fun continues at Waterfront where Santa Claus takes guests on a walk through the sensory Santa’s Illusion Adventure.  One must pay close attention to where they are going, because now you see it, and now you don’t …

Complete the Christmas experience at the Glittering Christmas Garden at the Waterfront Ocean Express Plaza, which is adorned with a lush forest of more than 50 scintillating Christmas trees. There will be a tree lighting ceremony every night, with Christmas carols performed by students from 20 different school choirs. Finally, one more stop must be made for eager children to let their creativity soar at the Illusion Art Workshop located at Whiskers Harbour. Join the creative craft-making activities that include making endearing reindeer origami that should add that charming last touch to a warm and blissful day!

Allan Zeman concludes: “Ocean Park Christmas Sensation 2009 will bring an exceptionally different and spectacularly fun Christmas to guests from all over the world this year. Mark these dates in your diary – 12 December 2009 to 3 January 2010! Let’s celebrate this festive season with a difference.”
