Adventure Zone: where thrills meet breathtaking views
Situated on a developed hillside of the upper park at Ocean Park, the Adventure Zone features a natural downhill slope that provides stunning views of the South China Sea. Spanning approximately 120,000 square metres, it was home to the retired Raging River and Mine Train. The reimagined Adventure Zone is set to enhance Ocean Park's appeal as an iconic leisure and entertainment destination in the Southern District, offering distinctive experiences tailored for visitors of all age groups and interests.
The three proposed areas in Adventure Zone are all thoughtfully designed to integrate seamlessly with the Park's natural topography, offering unparalleled mountain and sea vistas that will delight local and overseas visitors. The approach also aligns with the Park's commitment to optimising land use while minimising environmental impact by revitalising existing infrastructure and infusing it with a new purpose. The Adventure Zone is expected to open to the public in 2028. Visitors will be able to enjoy the new zone via separate admission tickets.
Soar to new heights
Visitors can embark on an aerial adventure at the former Boardwalk Cafe. This vibrant area will feature two thrilling giant Ziplines: one soaring above Water World and the other weaving in and out of lush green bushland. Spanning approximately 1,000 metres each, these Ziplines offer unparalleled panoramas of Aberdeen Harbour and the surrounding waterways. Visitors can feel the rush on three long adrenaline Dry Slides, renowned for their steep slopes and sharp curves.
The former site of Mine Train, the iconic dome-shaped rack will be turned into a bustling hub of activity. Visitors can challenge themselves or embark on the scenic walkway and Ropes Park. Adjacent to this will be the Luge — Alpine Coaster, where adrenaline seekers can take on gravity-defying challenges that promise laughter and exhilaration.
Learning through play: inspiring the next generation
Get ready for an adrenaline rush! There will be a purpose-built Twin Bungy and Twin Giant Swing, outdoor playgrounds, water adventure play areas and climbing walls access around the former site of Raging River.
The Adventure Zone is not solely about thrills; it’s about fostering a love of learning through play — a fundamental aspect of Ocean Park’s redevelopment plan. It also provides countless opportunities for children and families to engage with their surroundings meaningfully by integrating edutainment elements, such as information boards, puzzles and tactile objects, across various attractions. A significant focus of the Zone design will be on sustainability, especially in using eco-friendly materials and conscientious practices, and encouraging visitors to embrace conservation.
The development project marks an exciting new chapter in Ocean Park’s history. With the collaboration of Shun Tak Holdings Limited and the AJ Hackett International group, Ocean Park looks to elevate its holistic resort experience, offering a dynamic blend of thrilling attractions, educational opportunities and sustainable practices. The new Adventure Zone promises to be a must-visit destination for local and international visitors while inspiring a new generation of adventurers and conservationists.
