Ocean Park Introduces Express Coach Service for Mainland Guests Maintains a Positive Outlook on the Golden Week and the Future

2010-04-27

(27 April 2010 – Hong Kong) With the May 1 holidays approaching this weekend, Ocean Park has recently launched the "Chinalink Ocean Park Hong Kong Express Link” coach service to bring greater convenience to Mainland visitors traveling to and from Ocean Park, while stimulating visitor numbers from the Mainland. Guests will be able to enjoy a collection of rare lizards and embark on an interactive journey at How to Train Your Dragon Live, an attraction inspired by the blockbuster 3D animation during Ocean Park Animal Month – In High Definition, which has been extended to 3 May in line with the Golden Week.

The “Chinalink Ocean Park Hong Kong Express Link” coach service provided by Chinalink Express Holdings Limited commutes between Ocean Park and major Mainland cities such as Guangzhou, Foshan, Jiangmen and Shenzhen. Mainland visitors can purchase tickets through major travel agencies in the Mainland, the Chinalink web site, as well as the coach stop at the Park’s entrance. Chinalink predicts that as the Chinese Government gradually loosens the policy on Mainland citizens travelling to Hong Kong, tourists from mainland China going to Ocean Park will also increase gradually, hence benefiting the Chinalink Ocean Park Hong Kong Express Link.

"With the Hong Kong economy faring well at the moment, Ocean Park has seen satisfactory attendance since the turn of the year. The newly-launched express coach service provides Mainland guests with a comfortable and convenient way to travel to the Park directly. The travel trade is also optimistic towards the economic climate in the Mainland and expects the trend of Mainland tourists visiting Hong Kong to continue. As such, we maintain a positive outlook on our future,” said Tom Mehrmann, Ocean Park Chief Executive.

Ocean Park’s Animal Month – In High Definition campaign is held from 2 April to 3 May and features over 20 lizard species from around the world. Through the lizard exhibition and other educational activities, guests can learn about the importance of conserving these species. Moreover, the “How to Train Your Dragon Live” attraction at the Ha Ha Factory will engage guests on an adventure through interactive games and themed zones derived from scenes in DreamWorks’ latest 3D animated feature, and will be available to Ocean Park guests until 31 July.
