オーシャンパークのことをもっとよく知ろう!
(Hong Kong, 16 January 2020) This year’s Ocean Park Lunar Lucky Fiesta will run from 18 January to 9 February. To herald in the Year of the Rat, the Park will present a series of celebration attractions and activities themed around the lovely capybara – the largest rodent in the world, along with educational workshops, face-changing show and festive delicacies that use kumquat as the featured ingredient. In addition, the Park is running a special promotion for Hong Kong citizens until 31 March, which offers free admission for children aged 11 or below, and in-Park dining and shopping benefits for local senior guests aged 65 or above. To mark the official launch of “Gala of Lights”, Ocean Park has also launched an array of packages allowing guests to enjoy a memorable moment with their families.
Adorable capybaras to welcome guests around the Park
To kick off the Year of the Rat, Ocean Park has specially invited the famous capybara, the largest cousin of the rat family, to appear at various attractions for photo opportunities. At Waterfront Plaza, lifelike capybaras dressed in traditional Chinese New Year costumes await Park guests at the Capybara Garden of Fortune with auspicious drums, colourful lanterns and an interactive fai chun game for luck and happiness. Guests can also make wishes for prosperity and wealth by taking adorable photos with the cuddly capybaras at the Capybara Prosperity Pool that resembles a bamboo hot spring with steam. Another not-to-be-missed attraction is God of Fortune Pavilion, where the God of Wealth will fill the Waterfront with the energies of prosperity and wealth with his young companion gods of fortune, and give out lucky red packets from 25 January to 2 February.
Guests can also head to the Rainforest to say hello to capybara ambassadors residing at the Park, where our Capy educators will share fun facts about the species at the Capy Fun Talk. What’s more, from 25 January to 2 February, families can enrol together for the Capy New Year Workshop to make capybara-themed fai chuns to share with their friends, and see the lovely capybaras.
Exciting face-changing show and more for a lively atmosphere
New Year is for new resolutions and changes. Ocean Park has invited the world record-holding face-changing master Wai Shui-Kwan, and World Championships of Performing Arts gold medal winner Wai Fei-hung to present the Faces of Abundance Show at Old Hong Kong, to wish guests a better new year ahead. Next, Lunar Beats Alive will take place at the bamboo stage, with performers in traditional costumes spreading the celebratory vibes with vibrant shows. Whiskers and Friends will also host the Whiskers & Friends Fortune Fantasy at Aqua City Lagoon for an upbeat new year.
Lunar New Year lucky delicacies featuring kumquat
Various festive gourmet food will be available for guests to enjoy with family and friends. Aqua City Bakery will launch a series of desserts using kumquat as the featured ingredient to wish guests the best of luck in the new year. These include the rich flavoured Kumquat and Chocolate Cake in a kumquat shape, and Pumpkin Seed with Almond and Kumquat Tart made of healthy pumpkin seeds. Other delicious and lucky new year delicacies that will be on offer include the “Prosperous” Pig Knuckles (Braised Pork Knuckle with Red Fermented Bean Curd Sauce), and “Rich” Fried Golden Shrimp (Wok-fried Prawn with Salty Egg).
Hong Kong citizen-exclusive promotion for great fun from day to night
From now until 31 March, Hong Kong citizens can enjoy the Park’s Child Goes Free and Senior Guests Promotion. Children aged 11 or below can enjoy free admission to the Park, while local senior guests aged 65 or above, who already enjoy free admission, will receive a 30% discount at all food kiosks, designated restaurants and selected items at retail shops in the Park simply by presenting their Senior Citizen Card. Guests can now enjoy great fun from day to night. In the evening, guests are invited to stay at the Park to enjoy the latest entertainment sensation in town – “Gala of Lights”, an extraordinary integrated night-time experience featuring never-before-seen multimedia shows and an array of unique souvenirs.
Visitors can celebrate the launch of “Gala of Lights” with the Grand Opening promotions. They can enjoy a special price for admission tickets and a variety of culinary options, including two “Soul of the Ocean” Show Dinner menus – the scrumptious “Heritage and Precious Tasting Menu” designed by internationally acclaimed chef Qu Hao using 200-year-old Japanese soy sauce brand, Hamadaya soy sauce, as its key condiments and ingredients from Kumamoto, while the “Ginger Grill Gala Dinner Set” features authentic Thai flavours.
The fun continues at the International Chinese New Year Carnival
Guests can also watch out for the Ocean Park team at the International Chinese New Year Carnival organised by Hong Kong Tourism Board on 25 to 28 January at West Kowloon Cultural District Art Park. Whiskers and actors dressed up as meerkats and the Aldabra giant tortoise (who will make their debut at Ocean Park soon), will join the parade and bring a lively performance to the crowd. There will also be a colourful photo-taking spot, where Whiskers and the animal ambassadors will embark on a nature exploration journey in a Jeep.
