Ocean Park Halloween Bash Unveils Coffin Factory in Bustling Hotspot Opens First-ever Haunted Attraction Outside Park in The ONE Partners with Volkswagen to Present Fleet of Halloween-themed Vehicles

2011-10-02

(2 October 2011 – Hong Kong)  The Republic of Halloween has quickly achieved tremendous momentum since its inauguration at the opening of Ocean Park Halloween Bash in September. To further expand its interface with guests, the new republic has collaborated with strategic partners to transcend geographical limits and forge a win-win-win situation. Mr. Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park, said, “Ocean Park Halloween Bash has cultivated a rich heritage of creativity. This year, we are introducing a number of breakthroughs to help spread Halloween fever throughout Hong Kong. For instance, we partnered with The ONE, a shopping centre in the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui area, to offer guests added convenience and promotional discounts. The triple-win arrangement benefits our guests, Ocean Park and The ONE. We also worked with Volkswagen to present Hong Kong’s first-ever Halloween fleet in a marketing initiative that enabled us to interface with the public beyond the physical boundary of the Park. Not only does it let the public along the procession route experience the Halloween spirit, it also added to the holiday atmosphere of the National Day golden week.”

Dressed as an Elvis-inspired zombie, Mr. Mehrmann led scarily clad members of the senior management team, Lady Gwai Gwai and a colourful cast of ghastly characters aboard a fleet of Halloween-themed Volkwagens on a procession that started from Ocean Park. The creepy caravan first crossed the Victoria Harbour to reach tourist hotspots and danced up a storm at the Mongkok pedestrian area. The freaky fleet then moved along busy Nathan Road to the loud cheer of spectating pedestrians and tourists, before arriving at The ONE in Tsim Sha Tsui to unveil another groundbreaking Ocean Park Halloween Bash initiative.

At The ONE, Mr. Mehrmann announced the official opening of Coffin Factory, the Republic of Halloween’s very first haunted attraction outside Ocean Park. Inspired by Fear Factory, one of the most popular haunted houses in this year’s Halloween Bash, Coffin Factory offers an unprecedented opportunity for guests to journey through a corridor of horror and try out different coffins ahead of their visit to the Republic of Halloween at Ocean Park. They will also experience the creativity and frightful fun that have made Ocean Park such a perennial success. A ticketing booth has been set up outside the attraction to provide the public a convenient location in Kowloon to purchase Halloween Bash tickets. Ocean Park is also offering a 10% discount on night tickets purchased at the special location.

Starting from today until 31 October, Ocean Park Halloween Bash and The ONE are jointly offering a number of promotions. To gain admission to Coffin Factory, shoppers only need to present a same-day sales receipt from any of the merchants inside The ONE. Also, during 5-23 October, shoppers at The ONE who spend HK$1,000 or more in purchases through electronic means will receive a free Halloween Bash night ticket (for a designated date of visit). Shoppers who spend HK$200 or more can redeem a limited-edition Halloween Bash case for iPhone 4. Each Saturday evening from 5pm to 9pm during the period of 8-29 October, ghosts and ghouls from Ocean Park will visit The ONE to take photographs with the public. Details are available on flyers at The ONE.

Mr. Mehrmann concluded, “As the largest annual Halloween event in the region, Ocean Park Halloween Bash has continued to grow and set trends, bringing guests ever more frightful fun. Just like in previous years, response to this year’s Halloween Bash has been extremely good. As tickets for a number of popular dates are close to being sold out, I encourage everyone to get their tickets as early as possible so as not to miss this annual signature event of Hong Kong.”
