(Hong Kong – 15 October 2006) Ocean Park gets totally heated up with tens of thousands of guests getting all excited at each of its Halloween Bash nights. The remaining eight event nights look set to be total sell-outs again. With Halloween Bash still running full steam ahead, Ocean Park announces the launch of its first food, music and flower festival in January. This new event will immediately follow its annual Christmas Sensation event.
Tom Mehrmann, Ocean Park’s chief executive, said that this year’s Halloween Bash started on a strong footing with sell-outs for all the weekends so far, and the Park expects that by 31 October, another attendance record will be set.
“The Privilege tickets were all sold out soon after its introduction on 8 September, and the regular Night Tickets are selling fast. We thank our guests for their overwhelming support,” said Mr Mehrmann. “But even as we are still running the Halloween activities, work has already started for the next two events, the Ocean Park Christmas Sensation in December, and a food, music and flower festival in January,” he added.
For Christmas, a snowy wonderland theme will run through the festivities and attractions. “We will have our signature tree-lighting ceremony. There will also be lots of real snow at Tai Shue Wan to engage all in the family,” Mr Mehrmann promised. Like previous years, Ocean Park will continue to invite choir groups from local schools and the community to perform at the Park throughout Christmas.
“As we have consistently noticed a strong interest and fantastic reception for these acts from both the local performers and our audiences, we have decided to develop these into a new event, a food, music and flower festival, which we will hold in January, when it’s great to be outdoors.”
“We are still finalizing our plans, but we will definitely invite local artists to perform here. These include not only musical performances, but also culinary demonstrations and food tastings of international cuisines. Additionally, to build on our landscaping reputation, and to add an element of nature study to the event, we are planning to present rare plant species in a flower show, “Mr Mehrmann said.
“We want to give our guests strong reasons to come to Ocean Park again and again, each time with something new and captivating to do and learn, and all of us here are dedicated to creating this welcoming atmosphere,” he added.
The Ocean Park Halloween Bash will take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights throughout October, and on 30 and 31 October. The Christmas Sensation will start in mid December, and the food, music, and flower festival will be held in January through to March.
