Ocean Park Corporation (OPC) welcomes the Government’s appointment of Paulo Pong Kin-yee as the new Chairman and Stephen Wong See-yuen as the new Deputy Chairman of its Board of Directors for a term of two years, effective 1 July 2022.
Pong will succeed incumbent Chairman Lau Ming-wai, who is leaving the Board of OPC after having served on it in different capacities for 14 years.
Pong joined the Board of Directors of OPC in 2019 and took on the role of Deputy Chairman in 2020. He has brought with him broad food and beverage, retail, international trade, and investment experience to the Corporation. He is also a great supporter of arts and is committed to promoting culture, history and tourism, offering vital insights as OPC looks to transform and strengthen its conservation and education roots.
Paulo Pong Kin-yee, the new Chairman of Ocean Park Corporation, said, “Ocean Park is turning to a new exciting chapter of growth and innovation. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Ming-wai for his stewardship during a challenging period. Over the course of his leadership in the past two years, OPC has redefined its strategic focus, business model and guest experience, and launched the long-awaited Water World Ocean Park smoothly despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to working with Stephen, the Board and the entire Ocean Park team to build on Ming-wai’s achievements and chart our path forward for the coming years.”
Lau Ming-wai, leaving Chairman of Ocean Park Corporation, added, “It has been an honour to be at the forefront of Ocean Park’s transformation journey. I am grateful to everyone at the Park for their strong teamwork and persistence in overcoming numerous challenges. I now leave with the future of the Corporation in the capable hands of Paulo, Stephen and other Board members, and wish them all the success.”
Stephen Wong See-yuen, the new Deputy Chairman, joined the Board of Directors of OPC in 2018. Stephen is an ardent advocate of design thinking and a firm believer in using innovation and transformation to unlock new business growth. His expertise in customer experience, customer loyalty and user-centric innovation will play a crucial role as Ocean Park and Water World engineer their unique experiences for the future.
